Archaeology Lab Tours

Age(s) 9 – 12

You might know that archaeologists look for old things by digging in the ground, but searching for historical artifacts is bit more complicated than just digging a hole. And what happens to the artifacts after they're found? Kids in grades 4 to 6 can learn more about this fascinating field of study when we tour NDSU's Archaeology Lab with Dr. John Creese, anthropological archaeologist and Associate Professor of Anthropology. Multiple sessions are available for kids and families, but space is extremely limited. Pre-registration is required and we ask that families minimize the number of adults attending to provide as many children an opportunity to participate as possible. Registrants will receive directions and additional information the day before the tours. This program is part of the Red River Valley Kids Read series of events.

Family Trivia Night

Age(s) 5 – Adult

Each month we'll feature a different theme and see who knows the most! Family trivia night is open to individuals, families, or teams of all ages - trivia works best for kids who are reading independently. Families are invited to pre-register at the beginning the the current month. All materials provided including prizes for our top winners and snacks for all!

Mar. 30 – Road Trip!: World Geography
Apr. 27 – Mammals, Reptiles, & Birds, Oh My!
May 25 – Harry Potter and the Night of Trivia

Tea Tasting

Age(s) 13 – Adult

Explore some of the many unique teas available. Samples of 4 different teas from around the globe will be provided each month, along with brewing tips and relevant information on the background of that month’s selection. Bring a friend so you can sip tea and socialize to the Dr. James Carlson Library. This program is recommended for adults and teens (13+).
